It's official! Cody Hopkins has taken over the head coach position at 22ft Academy. Coach Hopkins comes with many years as an assistant coach at D1 NCAA colleges across the nation. Coach Hopkins is looking to build the program with 3 teams this year which will comprise of one national high school team competing for a national high school title at either the DICKS or the Grind Session and two postgrad teams playing in several states covering the Eastern seaboard, which will then culminate in a national championship run in March for a postgrad title.
When asked what his priorities are this year, his reply was
“ I feel that each student athlete needs to have realistic goals that can be achieved with hard work, dedication and integrity. Each part of the program this year has to focus on fundamentals encompassed with team building and the family values we place at 22ft”.
22ft is looking forward to the experience and dedication coach Hopkins brings to the program as he has already started the recruiting process with visits to events in Georgia, North Carolina, Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama. This week will see him travel to Florida and 2 other states on the recruiting trail to find that mix or talent, energy and fundamentals he requires to build a winning team.
Coach Hopkins will be on the road this weekend to watch potential recruits at the EYBL D1 circuit in atlanta and then up to Charlotte to watch the NTBA and the big shots events this weekend. Coach Hopkins is keen to see the level and standard of talent that is accessible to the Academy and wants to look at some of the younger future stars as well as the 11th and 12th grader classes.
